I click on my blog from time to time and remember all the good times I spent writing about myself and reading about others typical days, not so great times, good races, bad races, great adventures and just about everything one could imagine. I enjoyed those times. I remember sitting and reading for hours and hours at a time and being caught up to date with everyone on my bloglist. I would comment on every single post. Sometimes to gain a comment in return, but mostly to let that person know that they were important to me and I appreciated them sharing their thoughts no matter how ordinary they might seem.
It seems strange now that when I click on my blog the motivation to write is not there. I click on my bloglines and see the number of unread posts appear to go up exponentially. I read one or two and get sidetracked. I'm not sure why.
Life is changing and in the midst of it all I find myself changing as well. Career has taken hold, family is in the forefront and I find myself returning to church on a regular basis. Running occupies my mind and the pr's of the past seem far away, but the desire to return to the front of the pack is strong, but not always as strong as family these days. I suppose it's a good thing. I know it's a good thing.
I would like to say that I will be by to catch up soon, and I hope that I am, but I'm not so sure I can make a promise. I can promise you that I wonder what you are up to and from time to time I have others fill me in. I think about you often, scattered at times, and contemplate trying to delve back in, but I cannot. There will be a season soon when my creative juices start flowing and my time frees up enough to catch up with long lost friends. I assure you that you are not forgotten.

It was a great weekend Rob. I enjoyed our long run yesterday - just like old times, and our Mt. Peak run today. Even if you get too busy for blogging, I hope you keep hanging out with us!
What better day to blog about this topic then Memorial Day...I haven't posted since February, so you're doing much better in that department. I too wonder how folks are doing, but I do try to keep up with my "core" group of friends.
It was so wonderful to run with you and the gang yesterday - I'm not sure you're keen on running very many times at my very pokey pace, but if you ever are, let me know! Besides, you need practice all your motivational coaching before Cascade Crest. ;-)
Don't forget to mark the RnR date on your calendar!
Let's see... you ran a marathon on Saturday, 18 miles on Sunday, and ran with Steve an I to a new record time to the top of Mt. Peak this weekend. I'd say you got some good running in this weekend!
Good work out there!

Life gets busy, sometimes you have to choose. Your priorities seem to be right on target. I find I can't post as often as I like either, that's just the way it is sometimes.
I understand where you're coming from there. Sometimes our priorties need a bit of a reshuffle. I'm sure you'll be back some day.
Rob, appreciate your post.
Everything else in life should certainly come before blogging, but we'll be here when/if you decide to return more regularly.
I think about you at times too and wonder how you are. Not to worry. Not blogging does not equal not friends:)
Go with the flow, Rob. On occasion I find myself a little peeved that I can't write a post or miss a couple training runs because there is just too much going on at home - LIKE NOW - Three Year-Old screaming from the bathroom "I peed all over the place!" - BRB... Yeah, I guess the moral of the story is life happens and interests are ever changing. Whether it is running or writing, I find both communities are really understanding when one does disappear for a moment or two!
Happy Trails!
No worries, dude. The last thing you need is to feel pressure from blogging. There's a normal ebb and flow to it like everything else. Your other priorities sound very solid.
I know so well what you are saying Rob,we are here for you, enjoy your family
Yup, and is exactly why I'm taking a year away from ultras. My son, William, exclaimed to me last winter that we didn't do enough hiking/backpacking last year, and we didn't - hardly much at all. He's almost 13 now and is growing into a big kid, well able to do some great trips and I want to take advantage of that. I've never run nearly as much as most who run ultras, but the break has been nice, especially as my research at work has accelerated to higher levels. My involvement in my daughter's swim team has been very rewarding and has given me insight into a sport that I previously knew little of.
In the end, running will be a part of who and what I am, but I will not be solely defined by it. Head up and shoulders back...

Nice post, Rob. You've got your priorities dead on!
Finish the school year strong... and enjoy your wife and kids this summer!!!
I appreciate your post. I know that feeling, for this reason I only write 1 or 2 post every month. However I don't want to leave the blogsphere because it is a pleasure for me to keep in touch with all of you.
Completely understand. One thing I do to stay motivated after an absence is hit Mark All Read in Bloglines, thus declaring blog bankruptcy and starting over. You always have the option to dig deeper if something interests you.
You've been a great blogger friend to our virtual running community. Please plan to rejoin us when the spirit moves you. (I, for one, miss your posts but completely understand.)
I hope life goes well on all fronts.
(Hope you had a good run at Blanchard Mountain.)
Sounds like the end of the school year business! You will get to breathe soon!
We'll always be here.

Life ebbs and flows. I too, understand when other aspects of life demand our attention. Nice to see you post every once in a while though. :-)
We miss you on in blogland!
I can so relate to this post. Until my recent commitment to shorter posts, I'd fallen off the wagon. My bloglines too is so backlogged I usually just close it back down rather than try to catch up. Access to a laptop on vacation is the only reason I'm able to be here now. I do miss the interaction. Enjoy where you are. Remember we've still got that Idaho marathon to plan someday, you , me, Eric, Michelle and whoever else cares to come along.
I've always enjoyed your writing!
Enjoy the runs when you can. Even if we don't see you around the internets as often we know you're out there running and living a great life. :)
Thanks for this post!
Children grow up in a moment.
Running can help you to keep healthy: good job.
You sound at peace with the rhythm of your journey. Godspeed.
Where are you? Please come back to the blogsphere!
I'm there too. Same place, same condition. All the best buddy.
Robb
Damn Facebook (and Twitter for others) has eaten up my "fun" time but I still come back to Bloglines to see my old pals. That it's been two months since I visited you, it just goes to show: it's not the same anymore.
But it's nice to know you still live in the neighborood and I can drop by and leave a note. Hope your summer is going well and the running is still happening.
Well make sure that you post occassionally, I like the style of your blog! :)
